The Tripod in LA
I hope that everyone has people in their life as loving and incredible as the ones in mine. The amount of joy I get from thinking about all the people who are there for me in various ways is staggering and I feel grateful everyday for those I can call friends and family. I constantly say I have multiple families. My biological family is rather large, I have 8 brothers and sisters, but rather than being enough, I've found that this large family just trained me well for incorporating more people into my family circle. One of these families has been dubbed The Tripod.Composed of Kathy, Meghan, and Connor Kahnle, The Tripod is a solid and amazing little family.. They have been in my life for a little over 10 years now and I can't begin to express how much better my life is because of them. This past Thanksgiving of 2013 I was lucky enough to travel with them to Dry Prong Louisiana, where matriarch KJ grew up. I must mention that I could not have made the trip without their amazing generosity both in hosting and in the practicality of travel. In early November I received a box in the mail containing three of my favorite things: coffee, chocolate, and a plane ticket! Needless to say I was overjoyed to be able to join them. The trip was incredible and I was overwhelmed, though not surprised, by the generosity and loving-kindness found in the Tripod's larger extended family. I was welcomed with cornbread and hugs and find it hard to imagine a family more caring or sweet. Most of the photos below come from a boat trip on the local lake. I found the scenery as beautiful as the people of this small town. I can't forget a special thanks for my Mom for watching my pups, Toto and Tenzin.
